Exposed as a baby and picked up by Agelaos, Paris is raised by him and his wife until he's sixteen. That's when he's discovered and subsequently taken back in by his biological family. After all, if he survived the exposure, being nursed by a bear, perhaps the (interpretation of the) dream was wrong? Perhaps he’s just meant to live. Guilty parents, either way, welcome him back. Paris lives a number of years in Troy until one early spring afternoon on Mount Ida shortly after his 20th birthday. He's herding some of the royal livestock when he's confronted with three goddesses, a god, and a golden apple.
He judges as he sees fit, and this sets off a whole, terrible, chain of events that will unfortunately prove that a stray torch will indeed burn down the city it’s been set to warm with light.
-His parents named their baby Alexander prior to giving him away to be exposed. He was also given a pendant where that name was scratched in on the back, which is how he gets recognized later. Agelaos and his wife named their new baby Paris, since they can't read.
-Paris still spends some time on Mount Ida herding the royal cattle after being rediscovered. He finds he still likes the task (even more so now compared to when he was a slave when it comes with more privilege and resources), as this is a perfectly fine occupation for princes. This leads both to a relationship (though not marriage) with the nymph Oenone for a little while shortly before he goes to Sparta and the chance to pit his pet/prize bull against others and, finally, against a disguised Ares, as he'd promised a golden crown as a prize if his own bull could be defeated.
-He's also (been) in love with Antheus, a son of Antenor, competing with Deiphobus for his affection**.
-A comment below has a longer treatment of what I consider canon for the Judgement. For a quick accounting, he has told almost no one he was offered a gift by each goddess, and he didn't ask them to undress.
-Aphrodite helped him overcome Helen's compunctions about eloping, since that's a lot more commitment than just banging while the husband's out. Paris was perfectly capable of seducing her on his own.
(I can be flexible about how this exactly went down and how much agency/willing Helen was, but I'm not interested in "there was no genuine desire/emotion there at all, it was all Aphrodite" nor "he straight up kidnapped and raped her and has been doing so for the length of the war, no matter how gentle he is about it".)
-By the last year of the war, he can be anywhere from 30-35; 30 if strictly the ten years of the war has passed, up to 35 if additional years are inserted between Helen leaving Sparta and the second muster at Aulis/the Achaeans arriving at Troy, as I usually default around ~5 years. Either way he goes to Sparta at 20.
(Pseudo-Apollodorus' Bibliotheke inserts 10 additional years, to match what Helen says in the Iliad about it having been twenty years since she left Sparta, for example.)
-As per the Epic Cycle fragments for the Little Iliad, Paris dies on the battlefield to Philoctetes during a duel. His corpse outraged by Menelaus but won back and buried.
If you're interested in a version where Paris rejoins his birth family at ten instead of as a teenager, or one where he's grown up in Troy entirely (hewing even closer to what might have been the situation in the Iliad), excising the exposure entirely, if not the dream omen necessarily, then check more here.
**Technically this draws from a variation, referenced in Lycophron's Alexandra, where Paris accidentally kills Antheus (while playing discus) and has to go into the usual exile after such events, and goes with Menelaus back to Sparta after the latter has spent some time in Troy (hosted by Paris, even) for sacrifices at a couple tombs to lift an epidemic and curse of sterility on Sparta.
Obviously at least the latter part of this replaces any other version of how Paris goes to Sparta if not the Judgement itself (as that could still have happened), but the interesting parts are anything before Menelaus goes home with Paris along. If using the particular bit about the accidental killing, of course no exile would've happened and Paris was pretty damn distraught and inconsolable over what happened.
Shipping in general: I would kill for Menelaus, any way, any how I might get it. Helen as well! Background/assumed OT3 in various AUs or canon divergences with either of these two would be loved!
Any other male characters welcome as well - especially Ares, jumping off from the bull fighting myth (and maybe Paris' possible similarities to Aphrodite?). I would not be averse towards Hektor/Paris, either (though platonic-only would be loved as well!).
Some vague exceptions aside from Helen only when it comes to f/m for Paris: eidolon!Helen for a darker flavour + femdom, Oenone is a maybe, please talk to me first. And again, femdom is pretty much a given for the dynamic, both in and out of actual smut, that I'm looking for.
Desires for Helen specifically: femdom vibes or outright that dynamic, both inside and outside of sex; I just prefer Helen as the dominant personality between them. It's not necessary if that's not what you jive with, but it'd be a very nice bonus, whatever else we make of their relationship.

One can only stand so much, and so Alexander has fled from their home in Mytilene, Lesbos (to where the earlier family members had come as survivors after the Greek genocide and the population exchange between Greece and Turkey; they're Anatolian Greeks with some Turkish ancestry), taking refuge in the larger population of Athens and the greater possibility of queer life there, attending theatre studies at the University of Athens.
Never mind all these strange dreams, but he figures reading the Iliad repeatedly since he was old enough to understand the language used has left strange marks.
-His first kiss was with a siren while on a boat trip; she would have sunk the boat if he hadn't unintentionally charmed her, not knowing what she was. His second kiss, a couple months later, was with the son of a tourist couple he met on a beach. Both of these were revelations in their own way.
(If set after his education, his parents got a little better about some things and, thanks to their wealth, he's able to worry less about work and can focus on theatre and music. Technically a minor celebrity thanks to his family, but also, lately, by his own artistic skill. By this point is reluctantly but irrevocably aware of, if not fully reconciled with his first life.
His full name is Alexandros Kasdaglis, (with his mother often using Alekos, he is pretty fond of that one). At some early point he picked up 'Paris' as a nickname, both among friends and some of his siblings.
Modern day vampire AU: Paris is shot by the arrow poisoned by the hydra gall, Oenone refuses to heal him - and Aphrodite swoops in to pick up her favourite once again. But she cannot heal him, really. She can only save him, even when saving means emptying him of the poisoned blood while using ambrosia to keep him alive, and feed him the blood of another to replace what has been lost.
Paris is probably not the first vampire ever at that point, but he's certainly the only one made by a goddess. Though he has lost so very much by the time he can move under his own power after the changes has worked through his body, he's still grateful to be alive. Even when learning what it means to keep himself such. Death does not beckon, and Alexander of Troy turns his face in the opposite direction, towards the future, and lives.
(Can certainly be combined with reincarnation AUs for other characters.)
-He's not the sort of vampire vulnerable to sunlight or faith*, but he does need to consume blood, and might even have low-key need for sex, too, but that's never been something he's had to figure out. He can otherwise be killed by regular means, but as he's more durable than a regular mortal, the most reliable method would be beheading.
-Paris' natural charm has now basically become a power. It might not be hypnotizing as such, but it's in the neighbourhood of that.
-It feels really good to have sex with him, aside from that he's great at it. Unlikely his partner is going to notice they're being fed from. Especially so if/when combined with the charm power.
*The exception is hubristic behaviour towards or denial of Aphrodite, as closely tied to her as he is.
Sad ghost AU: basically just means Paris haunts the ruins of Troy, resisting (so far) any attempt to make him leave for the Underworld. It's not as if anyone really wants him in Elysium anyway, right.
Underworld/Elysium: post-death, post-canon, Underworld setting for family reunions, running into (former) enemies, etc and so on. Can obviously be folded into Hades game canon.

Personality
Date: 2021-06-11 10:29 pm (UTC)-A romantic, but that doesn't stop him in the least from being very flirty.
-Charming and witty, he has a good sense of people. If he starts talking with an eye to get something, he can be very persuasive. He does, however, do better in private conversation than public speaking; something about and in his approach and force of charm and persuasiveness fits better for an intimate setting/conversation. (Probably because of how his attention/focus gets centered on (preferably) one, or two people and how that feels for the recipient; he’s simply not the sort of speaker who can spellbind a whole crowd.)
-Lies really well, especially if he's smiling at the same time (if the situation should be fitting for it).
-Artistic; singing and playing music both, and he has a great singing voice. His favoured instruments are lyres (phorminx as well as the larger asymmetrical Middle Eastern/Hittite lyre) and long-necked lute, for singing accompaniment, and flute/pipes.
-Loves and is really good at dancing.
-He gives exactly negative zero fucks about military accomplishment and renown, or wealth to be won on the battlefield or as a consequence of participation on it. Which is a problem in a society where this is the masculine ideal de rigueur.
-As sensual as he is sexual. Enjoys pleasure in all its forms, as well as nice scents and fabrics. A hedonist, simply put, through and through.
-Likes to feel and look pretty (on top of being very attractive), and so he makes an effort about his physical presentation only women are supposed to. Especially his hair. Wears more jewellery than he's supposed to, as well. In short, he's rather effeminate (even more so socially speaking, considering his lack of care for/interest in military skill or renown).
-Nearly aggressively (comes across as flippant) does not care about what people think of him because of all of this, but on the other hand he will absolutely, if lightly, agree to, or only vaguely brush off, any rebukes or criticism that, socially speaking, he's making himself guilty of. He knows he's "guilty" (or actually guilty, in terms of anything martial-related) of it. Doesn't mean all of this doesn't get to him, but he will work awfully hard to make sure as few people as possible see that. No one is going to approve anyway, after all, so why allow them to see you hurt?
-Doesn't like pain. At all. (Though a bit of light hair-tugging or a smack on the ass can be nice. And he can get his pain/pleasure response muddled up during a spanking, but if he's struck anywhere else than around the ass or upper/inner thigh area the same reaction won't happen.)
-Does enjoy athletics, and is, perhaps surprisingly, very good at several sports (running, long jump, discus and javelin throw); he doesn't much like but is competent at wrestling (mostly through the element of surprise and being underestimated, but he does have some skill and strength to bring to bear); absolutely detests and isn't any good at boxing.
The gifts of Aphrodite
Generally, this is about his beauty and his pretty hair, not anything more 'magical', and in my basic approach it will mean exactly this and no more.
But, if talked about, I could be interested to explore a situation Aphrodite might not have added some spice (particularly so if one adds in the alternate/additional gift of being made most loveable/desirable [to women or in general] - "the lust women feels", which would probably mean that even if he's not fully within someone's preferences they would still feel attracted, but whether they act on said attraction or not is up to them).
Background variations
Date: 2021-07-10 03:35 pm (UTC)The Funeral Games. Paris will be ~16 here. Upon having his favourite and most well-bred bull (he might or might not have let one of the royal bulls cover one of his foster parents’ few own cows ahem) taken as a prize for the annual funeral games held for a dead Trojan prince, and not wanting to give it up, follows the men down to Troy despite Agelaos’ attempts at dissuading him. He wants his bull back, especially when it doesn’t actually belong to the royal herds.
He argues against the king to be allowed to participate in the athletic games held, and manages to win enough of the individual contests he’s declared the victor of the games entirely.
This insults the princes, and Deiphobos, after arguing with Hektor and then convincing Hecuba, attempts to murder what they think is nothing but an “upstart” slave. Paris flees to the courtyard/entrance altar of Zeus Herkeios to take refuge. During this his (foster) father appears and shows the royals the medallion Paris has been in possession of since an infant, which has his name scratched into the gold on the back (Priam himself did that, the medallion was his).
(Sources: The funeral games + murder plot/attempt by Deiphobus is earliest attested in Sophocles and Euripides' fragmentary/mostly lost Alexandros play, of which a substantive hypothesis survives.
Here is Hyginus' (Fabula 91) summary/version, which accords well/basically exactly with the hypothesis:
When he came to young manhood, he had a favorite bull. Servants sent by Priam to bring a bull to be given as prize in funeral games in Paris' honor, came and started to lead off the bull of Paris. He followed them and asked them where they were leading him. They stated that they were taking him to Priam . . . [to be prize] for the victor in the funeral games of Alexander. He, out of fondness for the bull, went down and won everything, even over his own brothers. In anger Deiphobus drew his sword against him, but he leaped to the altar of Zeus Herceus. When Cassandra prophetically declared he was her brother, Priam acknowledged him and received him into the palace.
(It's of course more complicated and involved than this, and Hyginus doesn't mention Agelaos/Paris' adoptive father coming to the rescue, Hektor not being on board doing anything and potentially protecting Paris, or Kassandra telling everyone to kill him with her reveal of who he is/the prophecy/dream omen he was born with.))
2. The Younger Option:
Here Paris is found (by one means or another, default assumption when not playing against a Hector will be that Hector found him while hunting, but Aeneas or Anchises is another option, given that they have herds on Mount Ida) at ten and brought back to Troy. A slightly less dramatic and potentially lethal reveal situation, with a couple more extra years for Paris to be with his birth family.
From early teenage years he slowly spends more and more of his time on Mount Ida herding Troy's royal cattle, as this is a perfectly fine occupation for princes (also due to lingering parental worries and guilt). This leads both to a relationship (though not marriage) with the nymph Oenone for a little while shortly before he goes to Sparta and the chance to pit his pet/prize bull against others and, finally, against a disguised Ares, as he'd promised a golden crown as a prize if his own bull could be defeated.
3. Growing Up in Troy:
As briefly touched on above, in the Iliad there is no mention at all of any exposure, or even of the dream omen. This doesn't mean neither of these things weren't known yet, but the Iliad, despite opportunities, makes no mention of them. So either they might have existed, yet not accorded in the text, or they hadn't formed yet, which means in the Iliad's version of things Paris grew up from infancy with his family, which gives yet another possibility of interactions between Paris and his family.
(I can take or leave the dream omen here. If included, maybe Hecuba and Priam simply couldn't give him away to be killed, or, say, Hector found out what was going to happen and pleaded for Paris to stay.)
Paris and the Judgement
Date: 2025-04-20 12:30 pm (UTC)-he attempts to run away. Hermes stops him before he really even gets off the rock he’s sitting on, but there is a reflexive and instinctual moment of fear-fuelled “oh no” and he tries to leave (not that that would’ve done any good! Hermes would’ve found him lol). Cowardice, if you really want to call it that, because he certainly doesn’t do it from a place of reason that “nothing good will come of this”.
And anyway, considering these are gods involved, he’s extremely unlikely to rationally think about running away for any reason. It’d also be more respectful (and more dignified) not to try to leave.
-as already mentioned in his info and the previous post, he doesn’t ask anyone to undress, only to see each of them alone.
Mostly as a method to try and delay having to choose at all. But as it’s pretty hard/impossible to stand or sit in front of three divinities and not basically be overwhelmed, there’s also some notion of attempting to be fair by cutting down on other impressions. However, with Aphrodite definitely already being his favourite goddess, not having had the chance to meet her before, he now also takes it in this way.
(-obviously, and this should go without saying, he certainly doesn’t ask for any gifts himself. The goddesses choose to escalate, and at that point THEY have made it about the gifts, not Paris.)
-of course, while no one gets physically naked, what happens might be, from a divine end, “worse”; each of them choose to show him as much of their divinity as is safe for a mortal to experience (for a measure of “safe”) in an attempt at convincing him, plus the gifts/bribes.
(Note: If Paris is being played against either Hera, Athena or Aphrodite, this part won’t be assumed to have happened/be happening if we’re playing out the Judgement, unless you might think that interesting! It’ll be something assumed only if he delves that deep into the Judgement to other people.)

-Aphrodite’s gift; Paris does not mention the other two goddesses offering gifts, even less what they in specific were. It serves him and the situation better not to do so, after all, since it puts primacy on Aphrodite, her gift, and a sort of divine sanction behind what he’s done.
(Now, that doesn’t mean someone can’t suspect there are more gifts involved, if they might be of such a nature. Considering it’s equally likely to assume Aphrodite really was alone about offering extra incentive and that’s why she won, however...)
Those absolutely having been told of this slightly edited version of events are Hektor and his parents when he first comes back to Troy with Helen. That is the first point in time it’s necessary to bring it up and, again, gives some divine weight to everything. After that, the general assembly during Menelaus and Odysseus’ embassy when the Achaeans first landed also gets told this.
If he’s outright confronted about whether Aphrodite’s gift was truly the only one, he won’t lie. There might also be some people he’d confess to willingly, especially after he actually thinks through what each of those gifts would mean, but given that he won’t want to think much about that (since it again merely emphasizes that avoiding war/death for Troy seems to have been unavoidable, and the dream omen was not wrong), it’s... unlikely.
